Bicycle design

Woody #5

This is fifth handmade wooden bicycle. I designed this bike with my daily commute in mind. The frame is based on a steel road bike. The head tube, bottom bracket shell, chain stays and seat tube remain from the original frame but there are no steel tubes remaining inside the timber frame. This bike is all about storage within the frame. Rather than a down tube it has a rectangular box section which holds a 48 volt battery, puncture repair equipment and wet weather gear. The timber that does the job of the top tube is also hollow section. It houses the motor controller and some of the electrical cabling.
